As you’ve probably noticed, I mostly take pictures of nature or landmarks or architecture or events… I don’t have a lot of fancy photography equipment or enough experience to do a legitimate photo shoot with families or for a wedding (yet…), so I figured this was the perfect place to start- with my own family. It’s always fun to try new things with my camera… This was my first experience as close to an actual photo shoot as it was (with my own camera and my sister and I as the photographers). We definitely had a good time experimenting with different lighting in the field and seeing where the winter sun hit our faces for the perfect picture.
These were all taken on a warm, December day… It almost looks more like October. My next goal is a winter photo shoot… Preferably with snow 🙂
“Autumn is a second spring; where every leaf is a flower”- Albert Camus
In New York, this fall has displayed the most impressive colors I’ve ever seen. Just like for the spring blooms, the autumn leaves require right temperatures and the perfect amount of rain and sunshine to reach their full potential. Last year, Hurricane Sandy blew away most of the leaves before they reached their peak. It’s almost as if this year, the leaves worked extra hard to make up for last year and gave all of the storm sufferers something to look at to remind them of how we’re “stronger than the storm”, to quote New Jersey’s recent motto.
With some photos, I kept the colors a little duller. I like that effect. I think it pushes the mind to create its own imaginary, super-bright colors in the picture.
P.S. Notice my new signature you guys 😀

I’m so excited for the leaves to start changing colors! I’ve finally accepted the fact that it’s not summer anymore… The workload of senior year kind of slapped me in the face, making me realize summer’s over. Fall sunsets are my favorite… Seeing the sun glisten through the colorful leaves is just so beautiful. This is a picture from last year, since the leaves in southern New York haven’t changed color yet; however, once they do, I’ll be taking plenty of pictures! Enjoy the fall feeling!
Wow, it’s almost been a month since I last posted! I’ve been so busy!
Christmas, believe it or not, is right around the corner. I know a lot of people, including myself, are bummed that time passes so quickly, but we just need to take some time to enjoy the little things that happen in between the big things like the start of a new school year or the holiday season.
Here are some pictures to put you in the holiday spirit a little prematurely, but it’s such a time of joy and happiness that just pictures can bring you warmth any time of year. These were all taken at Cracker Barrel. They have the most beautiful and festive set up of any store I know.
A good tip for Christmas or Thanksgiving photography… Make sure you make the pictures look warm by upping the “temperature” in the picture. It makes it look warm and cozy like the wonderful time of year really is 🙂
