In my last photography meeting, we talked a lot about group shots. It was the theme of the meeting because Memorial day was coming up, where family and friend gatherings are common. In a big group shot with, say, 20 to 30 people, chances are you’re going to have at least one person unprepared for the picture or someone blinking. I learned a lot about group shots from the meeting, but I remember a tip someone had told me a while ago… even before I was into photography: he said to have everyone in the group close their eyes until you count to three. Then when you say “open” after counting to three, have them all open their eyes so you guarantee nobody blinked and their eyes are refreshed and at their brightest. So clever!
